I loved this book!!! Funny cover to cover, continent to continent! The author traveled to all seven continents! Informative, learned quite a few things about traveling (and I thought I knew everything)! Inspiring, new places I've got to add to my bucket list! Two thumbs up entertainment!!! Will enjoy reading again and again!
A funny thing happened to me while reading this delightful book. I could imagine myself traveling to all 7 continents just by Ms Langer's descriptions. It felt like she was telling me the story out loud. What adventures, what mishaps, what fun! Ms Langer makes these words come alive, just as she did in her first book, Healing Through Humor. Wouldn't it be great to have a traveling companion like her?
If anyone had told her, "You can't get there from here," I bet Annette Langer would go there anyway, just to prove them wrong. But the heart of her book isn't Annette's vast itinerary, it's HER STORIES. Come for the travel, but stay for the stories. They are as charming and surprising as Annette herself.
I bought this book for my Aunt who was a travel agent, like Annette. Before I could wrap it up for her birthday, I just had to read it for myself. I laughed. I was completely entertained with Annette's many adventures on the seven continents. As I have not traveled extensively, I lived vicariously. Annette included interesting facts about many of the places she had traveled, so if you want to be entertained and don't mind learning a little along the way, read this wonderfully funny account of traveling the world.
This book is a treat for seasoned travelers, or those who aspire to venture out beyond their familiar neighborhoods. Annette has rendered a travelogue that is less a lecture and more of an opportunity to eavesdrop. The eager reader is enticed to learn of her journeys and musings derived from years of trekking across the globe for business and pleasure. A concise geographic summary sets the stage for each chapter, and then the real enjoyment begins with personal recountings of quirky, funny, and even scary events--none of which dampened her adventurous spirit. She has what the military would call "a can-do" attitude. Annette's skillful prose prompted memories of my own travel experiences and left me shaking my head in amazement and chuckling about the sometimes absurd situations encountered in life.
